The purpose of this project was to explore data gathering and usability in the context of a museum exhibit. Working for the Eindhoven Museum and following their goal of designing a different kind of museum, we explored non-intrusive ways of collecting visitor’s data through the installations of the museum. This data would then be used not only for evaluating the museum’s effectiveness or to get to know who visits it, but would also be shared with the visitors themselves.
To do this we created a tangible data visualization souvenir in the form of a postcard. This postcard is generated by a machine learning algorithm utilizing a neural network system. The network will categorize all the participating visitors and then try to predict what type of postcard they might like, based on their data. |
